Joe Dawes and Trevor Penny agree to terminate their BCCI contracts: Reports

Reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be sending Indian bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach Trevor Penny their contract termination letters next week, after the two agreed to cut short their tenure with the Indian cricket team, which is supposed to run till World Cup 2015, following a series of underwhelming performances.

Both of them were sent on a forced leave this August after the end of the 5-match Test series against England, which the MS Dhoni-led team lost 1-3, and were replaced by Bharat Arun and R Sridhar, with former national cricketers Sanjay Bangar and Ravi Shastri joining the team as the assistant coach and team director respectively.

The Indian Express quoted a top BCCI official as saying, "Both Penny and Dawes have accepted the BCCI's offer and their letter of termination of contract will be sent by next week. As their contract was till World Cup, they will be financially compensated."

While it was widely expected that the head coach Duncan Fletcher would be forced to leave, as well, the strong backing of the Indian captain and Shastri, who oversaw the team winning only their second ever bilateral ODI series in England, has helped the 66-year-old carry on.
