Sreenath Aravind, the Karnataka bowler has said that his side is looking to restrict Maharashtra around 320 to 350 in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 final at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Maharashtra had scored 272 runs with the loss of 5 wickets from 90 overs on day 1. Maharashtra have been quite solid on day 1, and might consider themselves ahead. But they’ve not been allowed to run away with it. Ankit Bawne has shored them up with a well-composed 89 and he’s enjoyed good company with Chirg Khurana’s half-century and Sangran Atitkar, with whom he shared his third fifty partnership of the day.

Karnataka would have liked to have a few more wickets today, but they have a brand new ball and morning conditions to change that tomorrow.

“Pitch is on the slower side. The bowlers have bowled well and we could have expected another two wickets, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get them,” Aravind said.

Aravind bowled his usual pace and also dabbled with some left-arm orthodox. He said about it as well, “It is a team decision and I have to go through it as a fast-bowler and spinner. Both combinations work well.”

“As of now 320-350 is fine I think. If we can stick to that, it is fine,” he concluded.

If Karnataka have to restrict Maharashtra to 320-350, they have to get quick wickets early in the morning. Firstly, they may have to get rid of Bawne, who is set on 89.
