Kevin Pietersen "extremely excited" on being named Delhi Daredevils captain

England’s Kevin Pietersen has reacted to the news of his appointment as Delhi Daredevils’ captain for the 2014 season of the Indian Premier League(IPL) by saying that he is “extremely excited” to be leading the team.

“Extremely excited about leading Delhi Daredevils this season,” Pietersen said in his message to his fans on Instagram.

Pietersen will be leading a newly assembled side after GMR, the owners of the franchise, decided to build from scratch and not retain any of their players from the previous season. The former England skipper emphasized on the players at Delhi Daredevils enjoying their cricket and working hard to achieve good results.

“We want to have a hard working and fun environment where we enjoy our cricket and produce some positive results for our fans. We all realise that we in this together and we include all our amazing supporters in Delhi and all over the world in this,” Pietesen added.

The maverick batsman will be available for the whole of IPL 2014 after falling out of favor with England and he plans to enjoy his cricket while in India for the IPL.

“Here’s to a happy and enjoyable IPL ’14. See you all very soon!” Pietersen said.
