Put in to bat, Kings XI scored 155/9, with skipper George Bailey (60; 45b, 5x4, 2x6) being the top scorer.
Umesh Yadav (3-33) was the most successful KKR bowler.
In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders reached 159/6 in 17.5 overs.
