Kolkata Knight Riders invited for Global Sports Summit

IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have been invited to the Global Sports Summit (GSS) to be held in Aspen, Colorado in the US.

Among those taking part are top English Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal, Major League Soccer's Kansas City, NBA's Golden State Warriors and National Football League's New Orleans Saints.

GSS is an international conference for various sports teams to gather and discuss the business of sports.

The reputation of KKR has been growing in recent years after a slow start in the first few editions of the IPL. KKR managed to win the IPL title this season despite not finishing 1st in the league stage. This was their second IPL title in the past three years.

With owner Shahrukh Khan unable to travel, it’s the CEO Venky Mysore who’ll be attending the event.

“It is a proud moment for KKR as we've got the invite from GSS. It is recognition of the team's growing popularity. Very few but influential franchises take part in such summits and I'm happy to be representing KKR,” Mysore told Pune Mirror before leaving for US.

The summit is an exclusive event which allows only a few sporting franchises to enter. It has been growing and now it is in its fourth year.

The summit website stated, “We welcome you to join us for a private, one-of-a-kind meeting of sports franchise owners from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, European Football and other professional sports globally. As sports leaders and owners, we are tasked to consider fresh ideas and discover new approaches to sports leadership.”
