ICC ODI Rankings: Virat Kohli maintains second spot, MS Dhoni drops to ninth

Virat Kohli maintains his second spot in the ICC ODI rankings, MS Dhoni drops to ninth

India’s marquee batsman Virat Kohli retains his second spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen while skipper MS Dhoni drops down to ninth after missing the recent 5-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka.

Kohli, who has been in outstanding form recently, scoring 329 runs from 5 ODIs at an average over 80, finds himself behind South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who is undisputedly the best batsman in the world not just in ODI cricket but across all formats.

As far as the Indian bowlers are concerned, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja maintains his standing at ninth. Medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, meanwhile, has slipped from seventh to eighth.

In the team rankings, India are only second currently, despite registering a thumping win over the Lankans. Australia, courtesy of their 4-1 series win over the Proteas, are sitting atop of the rankings with 117 ratings points.
