BCCI Secretary Mr. Anurag Thakur unveils the new website

Bangalore, August 23, 2015: In a big boost for Karnataka cricket, Hon. Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mr. Anurag Thakur announced that young Karnataka batsman Karun Nair has been selected to be part of the Indian team for the Third Test against Sri Lanka.

In a glittering function to felicitate the Karnataka cricket team, Mr. Anurag Thakur, Hon. Secretary, BCCI launched the brand new Karbonn SmartKPL 2015 Website at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today. The Karnataka State Team had a dream run in the 2014-15 season winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He said that he would discuss with the working committee of the BCCI the possibilities of allowing players from other states to participate in the Karnataka Premier League that has caught the imagination of the country and cricket fans world over.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Brijesh Patel, Hon. Secretary of KSCA, lauded the efforts of the players and batting and bowling coaches in achieving the unachieved in the history of Indian cricket, clinching three National titles in a season.

He also announced Mr. Thakur’s ideas for the National Cricket Academy situated in the Chinnaswamy Stadium premises and said that, BCCI was in the process of developing the NCA and look to offer the use of the same to Nepal and Afghanistan to develop their players.

It was also underlined that KSCA were a technology friendly Association and ball-by-ball scoring was being done for most league matches.

“The Karbonn Smart KPL IV will also have ball-by-ball scoring”, said Mr. Vijay Mruthyunjaya, Member, Spokesperson, KSCA while outlining the Association’s Premier League in detail.

For the benefit of the dignitaries and members of KSCA he outlined the importance of the T20 bash and spelt out the achievements of the League in developing talent across Karnataka.

KPL in partnership with SportsMechanics ( digital partner to KSCA ) have laid out a digital fan engagement roadmap for KPL 2015. The objective / aim is to reach out to all stakeholders of KPL through the digital medium and engage them in terms of a “ differential Fan Experience.
