GUJARAT LIONS: They say new teams don't always get off to a great start because they are still getting used to one another and that it takes time for everyone to be familiar with their roles. But so far, Gujarat Lions have made a mockery of that as they have made easy work of their opening two games of IPL 2016. While the first game was won thanks to some fantastic bowling by Dwayne Bravo, who finished with his career-best IPLfigures, the second was thanks to their belligerent opening pair, who added 85 in 8.3 overs to make light work of the chase of 164. Suresh Raina has got starts in both matches and while he failed to kick on in the first, he marshalled the chase perfectly in the second, only to be dismissed just before the job was done. As far as the bowling is concerned, Bravo has been among the wickets, but he hasn't been a lone warrior. Ravindra Jadeja has been both economical and effective with the ball and Dinesh Karthik has proven himself to be the perfect foil in the middle-order in a team packed with explosive hitters at the top and bottom.

MUMBAI INDIANS: Despite winning a game, the bowling of the Mumbai Indians must be a concern as they were unable to put up much of a fight in their opening game against Pune and conceded over 180 runs against Kolkata after having them on the ropes early on. As far as the batting is concerned though, things look in much better shape. Although the batting collectively failed in the opener, Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 84 and Jos Buttler's thrill-a-minute ride 41 in the last game means both of their key batsmen come into this clash with some form on their side. Kieron Pollard hasn't had much of a bat so far and Lendl Simmons is injured while Corey Anderson isn't getting a game thus far.

But arguably the biggest news as far MI are concerned is the arrival of Martin Guptill as a replacement for Simmons. The New Zealand opener looked in good touch in the World T20, where the Black Caps reached the semi-final, but was unsold in the 2016 IPL Auction. Will he start against Gujarat? Or Will Rohit keep faith in Parthiv Patel and go with two overseas bowlers like he did against Kolkata?

In today’s IPL second match at 8 PM Mumbai Indians faces Gujarat Lions at their home. Wankhede might be a high-scoring ground but in the first game of IPL 2016, it morphed into something the Mumbai Indians batsmen couldn't handle as they were restricted to 121, which was easily chased by the Rising Pune Supergiants. Will the surface be the same when Gujarat Lions come to town or will it revert back to being a paradise?
