Ever since Sri Lankan cricket legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara announced their retirements from international T20 cricket last month, there as been increased dissent shown by the pair and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) against each other.

Things took a turn for the worse on Tuesday as according to reports in the media, SLC is considering the possibility of taking action against Jayawardene and Sangakkara and have referred the issue to its independent disciplinary committee. SLC are said to be particularly irked by the comments made by the duo against board officials after they landed in Sri Lanka, post their victorious World T20 campaign.

National selector and former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya had earlier expressed his displeasure at Jayawardene and Sangakkkara deciding to announce their T20I retirement to the media rather than take it up with SLC.
