Responding to questions about the reported altercation between a Kolkata Knight Riders player and a Royal Challengers Bangalore player, match referee Javagal Srinath said that no team had lodged a complaint with him and that he had no knowledge of the incident.

“Nothing of that sort has happened... I've not received any complaint,”

According to reports, an ugly altercation broke out in the aftermath of the IPL match between the two teams at the Eden Gardens on Saturday – when Chris Gayle’s 56-ball 96 against his former team gave the away side their first points of the season in a high-octane nailbiting encounter.

Reports: Scuffle between Uthappa and Sarfaraz Khan

The reports say that KKR’s Robin Uthappa and RCB’s 17-year-old recruit Sarfaraz Khan had some sort of a disagreement behind the sight screen, which led to Uthappa holding the Mumbai boy by the collar. AB De Villiers and Ashok Dinda are said to have run to their teammate’s rescue and parted the quarreling duo.

The reports also say that Srinath summoned Uthappa and KKR CEO Venky Mysore later at night, with RCB’s De Villiers present. Uthappa has sought an apology for the incident.

KKR authorities, like match referee Srinath, have not acknowledged any part of the incident. “We’ve not heard anything about it.”
