The schedule for the Masters Champions League(MCL), a T20 tournament featuring retired international cricketers has been announced, and in the series opener it would be the the Gemini Arabians featuring Virender Sehwag, taking on the Libra Legends which has Sehwag’s former captain Sourav Ganguly.
The League would be played between January 28 to February 13 in the UAE, with matches being held in Sharjah and Dubai. A total of 6 teams with 15-member squads would participating with star-studded line-ups including Jacques Kallis, Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara, Adam Gilchrist, Daniel Vettori, Brett Lee and Brian Lara amongst others.
The MCL has acquired a 10-year approval from the Emirates Cricket Board, which is the official governing body for the sport in the Arab nation. 18 matches will be played throughout the tournament including the semi-finals and the final.
The tournament would proceed in a round-robin manner, with each team playing the other once. The top four teams would be proceeding to the semi-finals to be held in Dubai on February 11 and 12, while the final is scheduled for February 13 also in Dubai.
