Sentencing Of The Pakistani Cricketers Found Guilty Of Match Fixing

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have a bilateral ties with India in order to generate revenues for Pakistan cricket, Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif has said.

In an interview to a TV channel, Asif said : “India now gives 70 percent of the revenue generated by the ICC and once we have bilateral ties with India everything will improve in Pakistan cricket. The money will come in and that is very important.”

Asif insisted on telling the ICC/Pakistan Cricket Board on how he became involved in spot-fixing in 2010 and denied having revealed any details about it.

Asif, who has confessed to his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in England in 2010, asserted that he will only reveal the details to the concerned officials, on being asked if any other players were involved in the in the racket.

“I will be meeting with the ICC/Pakistan Cricket Board anti-corruption officials this week and whatever I have to say I will say to them,” he said.

“I will tell everything I know about the spot fixing racket and what happened in 2010 but I can’t say anything here and now,” Asif added.

The disgraced seamer admitted that he was guilty and ashamed of his deeds.

“There are others who have never even bothered to apologise to the nation for their actions,” Asif said without explaining who he was referring to.

“What is the use of your apologising after denying everything for three years…I don’t know why they have called you even on this show. People like you should be isolated,” a caller said.

Asif remained silent on him being accused as shameless. He however requested people to accept his apology.

“I don’t want to say much but I made a grave mistake and I just hope the people accept my apology. I can understand their feelings but I have already faced punishment,” he said.

Asif described Mohammad Aamer as the genius of the spot-fixing scandal, although he didn’t make any comment on him.

“I want him (Aamir) to also play again for Pakistan because he has number of years left in him. As far as I am concerned even if I can’t play for Pakistan or top cricket, I will still play club cricket because cricket is my blood,” he said.

Mohammad Asif also said that he will be doing his every bit to educate players on spot-fixing and corruption.
