Indian pacer Mohammad Shami marries Kolkata-based model Hasin Jahan

Indian bowling sensation Mohammed Shami has tied the knot with Kolkata-based model Hasin Jahan. The 24-year-old, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, lives in Kolkata and plays for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Shami met Hasin a few seasons ago at an IPL event.

In a private ceremony held in Moradabad, only family members and close friends were invited.

In a chat with Aaj Tak, Shami’s father Tauseef Ahmed said, “It is a good feeling. It's every father's dream to see his son do well in his life. Shami plays for his country, which is something to be proud of. IPL is a different format and to play for your country is a separate thing. I put country above everything else. It gives me immense pride to see him doing well for India. The tour of England is coming up, and I hope Shami will impress there and help India win.”

No Team India members were present in the ceremony, the reason for which Tauseef explained to NDTV. “We didn't invite Shami's Indian teammates as we were not sure about their schedule. The family will plan a reception either in Kolkata or Delhi depending on when the players are available.”

Hasin is an ex-model based in Kolkata. “Now she will be a housewife and support Shami in his playing career. That's what we want as parents,” Tauseef said.

Shami has been rested for the Bangladesh ODI tour, and will resume his cricket only after June 13, after the marriage of his only sister.
