When Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni stumped Alastair Cook in the third ODI at Trent Bridge in England, he broke the record for most stumpings across all formats of international cricket. He passed the previous record, which was held by Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka who has 129 stumpings in 563 international matches.

The Indian captain added to his tally by stumping Joe Root later in the innings. His record now stands at 131 stumpings.

Romesh Kaluwitharana is closely behind Dhoni and Sangakkara with 101 stumpings and then comes Moin Khan of Pakistan with 93, with Adam Gilchrist of Australia further behind with 92 stumpings to his name.

Dhoni has also secured the 5th spot on the on the list of wicket-keepers who have taken the most catches in international career, that is 494 catches in 381 matches. He is also at the 5th position in the most dismissals in a career by any wicketkeeper with 625 dismissals.
