MS Dhoni dodges Test retirement question with a grin

After Team India’s new jersey was unveiled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) earlier today, limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni addressed the press for the first time since announcing his shock retirement from Test cricket.

Expectedly, a question on his decision to quit was asked by the media. The reply to that was given in true Dhoni style, with a grin on the face and very little information leaked.

"It has been good, a few days off," was all the media could get from the 33-year-old.

After helping India draw the third Test at the MCG, the man from Ranchi decided to call it quits from Tests, citing a growing difficulty in managing the workload across three formats of the game. However, few were willing to buy that reason and there were stories in the media about things being rocky between Dhoni and Director of Cricket Ravi Shastri as well as vice-captain Virat Kohli.

However, Shastri rubbished all those reports and said that everyone, including the support staff had the highest respect for Dhoni inside the dressing room. Now that Dhoni has had a considerable amount of time to recharge his batteries, one can expect him to give his best in the upcoming tri-series, involving Australia and England.

India’s first match in the tournament is against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
