MS Dhoni's Hummer leaves New Zealand players in awe

Tom Latham and Ross Taylor were left admiring Dhoni’s majestic Hummer H2.

The New Zealand and Indian cricket team arrived in Ranchi on Tuesday ahead of the fourth ODI of the 5-match One-day series. The New Zealand side have had a terrible tour so far, registering just one win in the ODI at Delhi after being whitewashed in the Tests. The players arrived at the Birsa Munda international airport in Ranchi early on Tuesday and both the teams received quite a reception.

While the New Zealand players seemed to be overwhelmed by the kind of reception they received, little did they know about what they were to witness on their way to the team hotel. Players from both sides boarded their respective buses but Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to hit the roads in his H2 2009 Hummer.

The local lad decided to visit his family before joining the team at the hotel. Dhoni flaunted his gorgeous looking Hummer as he drove close to the New Zealand team bus. While the captain was in his usual mood, New Zealand cricketers, Tom Latham and Ross Taylor were caught looking in astonishment at the majestic four-wheeler. The players' reaction didn't come as a surprise, for the Kiwis are a humble, modest lot who do not enjoy the same perks of being a cricketer back home in their country as much as their Indian counterparts do.

Dhoni added the Hummer to his collection of "luxurious cars" back in 2009. The Indian skipper paid over a crore to get his hands on the "beast" and the captain’s love for automobiles isn't surprising as the player has been known to be an ardent fan of superbikes and luxurious cars. He boasts a huge garage in his house at Ranchi that serves as a safe haven for his expensive bikes and cars.

His love for two-wheelers even led him to partner India film actor, Akkineni Nagarjuna in buying a Supersport World Championship team, Mahi Racing Team India.

Some of his majestic cars in the garage include a Mahindra Scorpio Open priced at around Rs. 11 lakhs, a Land Rover Freelander priced at Rs. 52 lakhs, a GMC Sierra which costs around Rs. 48 lakhs, a Mitsubishi Pajero SFX which is priced at Rs. 22 lakhs, an Audi Q7 with a whopping cost of Rs. 77 lakhs, the elegant and sporty Porsche 911 at Rs. 2.6 crore, a Ferrari 599 priced at Rs. 1.5 crore and his favourite, the Hummer H2 that he bought for around Rs. 1.5 crore.
