Dhoni has not had the best time in this year’s IPL

The drought-hit state of Maharashtra couldn’t host IPL matches as ruled by the Bombay High Court and now there are allegations of water wastage in Indian captain MS Dhoni’s residence in Ranchi.

According to reports, his neighbours have complained that at least a total of 15,000 litres of water gets wasted every day to maintain the personal swimming pool of the cricketer while his locality is currently going through a water crisis.

The report also added that the bore wells do not work in the area. Dhoni’s neighbours have also lodged a complaint to state revenue minister Amar Bauri.

On the other hand, Dhoni’s advisor in Ranchi responded in the matter by saying that the pool is only used when the 34-year-old cricketer is in town.

Currently, the water crisis is one of the major problems in India. In various states of the country, people are having to deal with a lack of water. Earlier, the IPL matches of the two Maharashtra-based franchises had been shifted out of the state because of drought.

A petition issued while the swimming pool was under construction

This new complaint on water wastage is something very serious considering the current situation of the country. However, the same people had filed a plea against the Ranchi Regional Development Authority back in 2007 when Dhoni’s swimming pool was under construction. Later, it was clearly declared that the petition was based on wrong information.

Previously the wicketkeeper-batsman was charged with criminal proceedings on a complaint that he deliberately attempted to outrage religious sentiments with a visual depiction of him as “Lord Vishnu” in a business publication. The complaint was launched by social activist Jayakumar Hiremath.

The two-time World Cup winning captain is currently going through a tough time. Under his leadership, the newly formed IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiants lost four matches on the bounce. Before the IPL, India also lost in the semi-final of the ICC World T20 against eventual champions West Indies.

He is also going through a rough patch with the bat. He has scored only 87 runs in this year’s five IPL matches so far. However, he still stands as one of the most successful captains in IPL history as he won two titles with the now suspended Chennai Super Kings.
