ICC Chairman N Srinivasan confirmed on Friday that the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC World T20 in 2016 and 2021 ICC Champions Trophy will all be hosted exclusively by India, giving Indian cricket fans the opportunity of seeing 3 world tournaments in the space of 7 years.

The 50-over World Cup in 2023 will be the 4th time that the event will be held in India after hosting it in 1987, 1996 and 2011, but they had to share the mantle of hosts along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on those occasions.

"In the past, India used to get one ICC event in 16-18 years. We had the 2011 World Cup in India after 15 years and that we had to share with other countries. Now three events will happen in eight years and that is very significant," Srinivasan told the Times of India.

The former BCCI president had recently said that he will always root for India despite his new role with the ICC, world cricket’s governing body, and hopes that the Indian team can come away with a rare series win on English soil. He added that he was pleased with India’s performances on recent away tours to South Africa and New Zealand and said that they were unfortunate to have ended up losing both those series.

The 2023 50-over World Cup will follow the 2015 and 2019 World Cup, which will be held in Australia & New Zealand and England respectively. The scheduling of these events in these countries is no surprise, with the powerhouses of world cricket - India, England and Australia – having a major say in these matters.
