N Srinivasan is one of the 13 people named in the Mudgal Committee report as a suspect in match-fixing scandal, said Supreme Court today, continuing the hearing on IPL spot-fixing today. SC therefore rejected his plea to reinstate him as BCCI President.

Srinivasan had appealed to SC to reinstate him as BCCI head, saying he had done no wrong. However, the two-judge bench said that since he’s been named in the report, along with 12 other prominent cricketers, its interim order will stand.

Earlier, the court had appointed Sunil Gavaskar as the BCCI interim head for all IPL-related affairs.

There were question IPL COO Sundar Raman too, and SC had given Gavaskar the authority to decide on Raman’s future. The court today informed that according to Gavaskar’s recommendation, Sundar Raman will continue as IPL Chief Operating Officer.

The bench has asked BCCI to respond on how it’ll be conducting a probe in the matter. There have been several calls for ordering a CBI or SIT (Special Investigation Team) probe in IPL spot-fixing from many corners, but SC said that doing so the image of cricketers would take a hit and also undermine the autonomy of BCCI. However, it has asked BCCI to conduct its own probe, keeping Srinivasan out of the loop. “We cannot close our eyes after having come to know about the allegations,” the bench said, according to NDTV.

N Srinvasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s was proved to have betting links in the Justice Mudgal Committee report submitted to the top court on February 10 and 13 players/officials were alleged to be involved in the scam.

Last month, SC suspended Srinivasan and appointed Sunil Gavaskar as the BCCI head for the duration of IPL.
