New Zealand cricketers donate their match fees to the families affected by Peshawar school killings

In an extremely magnanimous gesture, Kane Williamson has decided to donate all his five match fees to the families affected by the Peshawar attack

Following their 3-2 ODI series victory against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand cricketers have donated a share of their match fees to the families of children who have been affected by the Taliban Peshawar school massacre. Stand-in Kiwi captain Kane Williamson has contributed all his 5-match fees for the same cause.

142 people, mostly children, were killed in the gruesome incident, which almost led to the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) rescheduling the fourth One-day International between the two countries.

The donations were given to the Pakistani batsman Younis Khan, who said that the New Zealand cricketers were very unhappy about what had happened in Peshawar.

“New Zealand players and officials have handed over some donations and kit bags to me which will be delivered when I’ll go to Peshawar,” the 37-year-old said.

“Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has given all five ODIs match fee while fast bowler Adam Milne gave away his income of one match. Similarly, their team manager has also donated for the families which have been affected in the attack. I’ll hand over those things personally and through Pakistan Army soon on my visit, ” he added.

Pakistan’s stand-in skipper Shahid Afridi had admitted prior to the fourth ODI that he and his fellow teammates weren’t in the right frame of mind to play the game.
