New Zealand Minister Nathan Guy to boost business and cricket ties between India and NZ

Mumbai – Distinguished industry guests gathered at a glittering reception held at the New Zealand High Commission in Delhi yesterday evening, to celebrate New Zealand’s co-hosting of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Hon. Nathan Guy, Minister of Primary Industries was the Guest of Honour at the event which was attended by members of a visiting New Zealand business delegation to India, and other dignitaries like New Zealand High Commissioner, HE Grahame Morton and Trade Commissioner Richard White.

“New Zealand and India have forged a strong business relationship over the years. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is an opportunity for both countries to further grow their economic and trade connections,” says Mr Guy.

Stephen Fleming, ex-New Zealand cricket captain and coach of the Chennai Super Kings is accompanying Minister Guy during his visit to be a part of the tournament, explore business opportunities during their stay and grow business and sporting links.

India is New Zealand’s fastest growing source of international students. It is also developing as a place for New Zealand firms to do business and visit. Tourist numbers to New Zealand from India increased by almost 20 per cent in the year to September 2014.

New Zealand co-hosts the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 with Australia from 14 February until 29 March 2015. Indian cricket fans can make the most of a dual visa for Australia and New Zealand under the Trans-Tasman agreement, which is valid between January 26 and April 5, 2015.

In addition to Stephen Fleming, two other former legendary Indian cricketers- Madan Lal, who was one of the heroes of India’s 1983 World Cup winning side, and Bishan Bedi, former Indian test captain and spinner, were also present at the event.
