Shakib was banned for abusing an umpire during BPL

The recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season three helped many Pakistani players to regain match practuce, albeit certain exceptions. Pakistani players were left frustrated with the “lack of respect” and opportunities in the month long cricket bonanza.

According to reports, the national team Test captain Misbah ul Haq was the most furious of the lot, who was playing for Rangpur Riders in BPL. He was allegedly ill-treated by the skipper of Rangpur Riders, Shakib Al Hasan.

Sources said “Misbah’s wonderful innings of 61 won them their first match against Chittagong Vikings and it should have been enough to keep his place but Shakib was not impressed. After Misbah failed with 19 and six in the next two games, Shakib did not send him to bat and after his 22 on a poor wicket, with the team dismissed for a paltry 104, Misbah was dropped from the remaining games.”

Misbah will never take part in BPL ever again

The sources also claimed Misbah’s frustration to be so high, that the veteran decided not to take part in the BPL ever again. The Bangladeshi is currently the number one all-rounder in the world and had been on the top spot across all formats for a long time. Sources also added “Shakib’s arrogant ways, on and off the field also angered Misbah who in anyways a greater player than Shakib.”

Meanwhile Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Wahab Riaz, with whom Shakib had issues in the past, reportedly was also enraged. During an interview, the pacer angrily said, “There was lack of respect and it was hard to understand. I was played in only one game in which I took a wicket in three overs for 12 runs and was not played again. Unfortunately my father fell seriously ill so I had to leave for Lahore but even if it had not happened I would have returned anyway.”

Shakib, who has a history of disciplinary problems, was handed a one match ban over a double foul mouthed outburst during a BPL match against Sylhet Super Stars. The 28-year old was found guilty uttering abusive language after dismissing batsman Dilshan Munaweera. He was also convicted of uttering abusive language towards umpire Tanvir Ahmed during the same match.
