Parvez Rasool celebrates after picking up a wicket

Parvez Rasool created history by becoming the first cricketer from the state of Jammu and Kashmir to represent India in a One-Day International. The off-spinner achieved this feat when he took the field against Bangladesh on Sunday.

Rasool was also the first cricketer from the state to get an IPL contract when he signed up for the Pune Warriors India in 2013. He turned up for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the recent IPL season.

He picked up 2 for 60 from his 10 overs on his international debut. Although he proved to be expensive, he was able to pick up two important wickets.

The 25-year-old, who hails from the town of Bij Behara in the southern Kashmir valley district of Anantnag, was earlier part of the Indian squad on the 2013 tour of Zimbabwe but was not given a chance to play. Rasool has finally managed to break into the team in the ongoing series, wherein India has rested many key players such as skipper MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravinchandran Ashwin, amongst others.
