Interim BCCI President Sunil Gavaskar has appealed to IPL teams to play hard but play fair. It is pertinent to add that the tournament has recently witnessed a lot of controversies and Gavaskar would be hoping that it remains clean this year.

A BCCI statement said, “Sunil Gavaskar, Interim President, BCCI-IPL, chaired the pre-IPL season Captains & Coaches meeting, on Tuesday, 15 April 2014. He stressed to the captains, the importance of their teams playing the game according to the MCC Spirit of Cricket – Play hard, Play fair. He also addressed their position as role models for followers of the game and other players, as they built their respective careers. He reinforced the core message that integrity was non-negotiable.”

The fans certainly hope that the IPL remains controversy free under the reign of Gavaskar. Gavaskar himself has been a legend of the game and fans are expecting great things from him while in administration.
