TNPL 2016: R Ashwin and M Ashwin are available for Dindigul Dragons’ next game: Wilkins Victor

Dindigul Dragons all-rounder Wilkins Victor addressed the media on Monday, the eve of their India Cements TN Premier League match against Ruby Kanchi Warriors.

Do you have a special plan for the Chepauk wicket?

Only after we see the wicket can we decide whether it’s slow or turning. The plan has been taken care of by the coach and captain.

Will R Ashwin and M Ashwin be available for tomorrow’s game?

As far as I know, both R Ashwin and M Ashwin are available for the next game.

Describe your experience of playing in front your home crowd in Dindigul?

It was a superb experience. The crowd was helpful throughout the game and they kept supporting us throughout the game. The support was really awesome there.

You recently scored 290 in a first division league match. What can we expect from you? What are your thoughts on the India Cements TN Premier League?

The India Cements TN Premier League is a great opportunity for everybody. The TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association) has taken such a beautiful initiative to get into the T20 format.

The game changes — that is the longer format of the game and this is the shorter format of the game. You can’t say anything here as it’s too quick a game.

Have you worked on any shot in particular for the T20 format?

Not really. It all depends on the correct ball to choose and if you hit the correct ball you will definitely score the runs. For me, for my game, nothing changes much in any format of the game.

Has your team been working on any area in particular?

We have been working on all three departments. Especially our fielding – we have been working on our catching, ground fielding and playing under lights is very important. I think the support staff has done a very good job.

Are you working on the batsmen contributing equally?

Every player is quite mature in our team and everyone knows their roles. It takes some time to gel to this format and the hype. We will be delivering in the next game.

Have you been working a lot on your fitness?

Over the last eight months, I have been working hard on my fitness. Preferences change as the game changes. At a certain age, you need to focus on what you require for the game.

Do you think you are at a slight disadvantage having not played at Chepauk earlier?

Everybody is from Chennai and we have all played a lot of games at Chepauk. Also, we have already played these guys before. So it is just a matter of time and who plays better cricket on that day.
