Rajasthan allowed to play in 2014-15 domestic season

Rajasthan High Court has passed an interim order making way for the state’s cricketers to play in the 2014-15 season, which includes India’s premier domestic tournament – Ranji Trophy; however, they will be representing Rajasthan XI and not the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), which had been banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in May for electing ex-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi as its president.

The court has also appointed three different selection committees to pick the senior men, women and junior state teams for the entire season for all the tournaments conducted by the BCCI. Hearing former Rajasthan player Nikhil Doru’s writ petition filed on September 16 requesting the court to intervene and allow Rajasthan’s players to represent their state, which it said were suffering "only for one reason, which is the grudge between BCCI and RCA", Justice MN Bhandari ruled it in favour of the petitioner.

ESPNcricinfo quoted Sanjay Patel as saying, "The BCCI has all along maintained that we do not want the players to suffer. We are delighted that that the players' interests have been taken care of."
