Ravi Shastri keen to approach Geoffrey Boycott to help Indian batsmen

Geoffrey Boycott

In an interesting turn of events, the newly appointed director of Team India Ravi Shastri is look forward in inviting former England batting great Geoffrey Boycott to help Indians realize their flaws in their batting technique ahead of the one-day series against his own country.

"In the commentary box, Geoffrey [Boycott] is quick to pick up the plus and minus points among batsmen. I call the old man the fastest 'fielder' among us, who is quick to spot a flaw. For his age (73), he is very sharp," Shastri was quoted saying to mid-day.

Boycott was known to be very criticial of Indian batsmen as evident from his recent “rubbish” claims against Gautam Gambhir. He also went on to even describe the Indian batsmen as lambs to the slaughter. Further, the Englishman with 108 Test caps claimed why Duncan Fletcher was persisted with as head coach despite recurring batting failures abroad following India 1-3 Test series loss.

Considering his stance against the Zimbabwean, things are set to get more and more tricky as it’s not known how the coach and players are going to react to this move by Shastri.

"I wanted to find someone, who has seen the team playing the Test series and this will help a great deal when it comes to analysing the batsmen. I will approach him straightaway when we reach Yorkshire," reasoned the former Indian all-rounder on the situation.
