Ravindra Jadeja could face a 1-Test ban

A day after English pacer James Anderson was charged with a Level 3 offence by the ICC, India’s Ravindra Jadeja has been summoned for the same incident that occurred on day 2 in the 1st Test between England and India at Trent Bridge.

The Indian all-rounder has been charged with a Level 2 offence, which is considered a lesser evil by cricket’s governing board. The charge brought about by England is thought to be riposte to India doing the same against Anderson.

While the English fast bowler could face a 4-Test ban if one considers the worst scenario, the maximum punishment that Jadeja can receive is a one Test ban along with a 50-100% fine on his match fees. Level 2 breaches carry 2 suspension points, as supposed to 4-8 points for a Level 3 offence.

Speaking about the allegations, the ICC said: "It is alleged that after the players left the public area and entered the pavilion [for lunch], Jadeja turned suddenly and took steps towards Anderson in an aggressive and threatening manner."

England captain Alastair Cook had earlier spoken about the incident in his press conference, stating that he did not expect Anderson to get banned despite the claims from the Indian team.
