A record-breaking debut for Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed

Taskin Ahmed was bang on target in his debut against India

The 19-year-old Bangladesh bowler on his first International one-day match caused plenty of problems to the Indian batting order that has rested its star players. Despite the lack of experience in the Indian batting line-up, one should not take anything away from Taskin Ahmed’s fine spell of fast bowling that was incredible for a debutant.

He displayed great confidence from the start, by bowling a bouncer with his first delivery in nternational cricket.

The right-arm seamer dismissed Robin Uthappa after the rain delay and quickly removed Ambati Rayudu in his next over, to leave India at 28 for 3 within the mandatory powerplay overs. He kept the pressure on to consume Cheteshwar Pujara leg before to a quick inswinger than got the better of the right handed batsman. In his second spell, he captured the wickets of Stuart Binny and Amit MIshra to bag a five-for on his debut.

It helped Bangladesh to restrict India to their lowest ODI total against them.

Records Taskin created/broke on his first ODI:

• First Bangladesh bowler to get a five wicket haul on debut.
• First-ever player to take five-wicket haul on debut in ODI history before the age of 20.
• At 19 years and 75 days, Taskin is the youngest Bangladesh bolwer to pick up 5 wickets in an ODI and the 4th youngest overall. Waqar Younis is the youngest, having acheived the feat in 18 years and 164 days, followed by Wasim Akram in 18 years and 266 days and Aftab Ahmed in 18 years and 361 days.
• 8-0-28-5 at 3.50 runs an over this is the 5th best bowling performance on debut. Only Fidel Edwards of West Indies has taken more wickets in his first ODI.
• Taskin Ahmed and Allan Donald are the only bowlers to take five-wicket haul on their ODI debut against India. Donald achieved this feat in Kolkata 1991.
