Roger Binny and Stuart Binny become the 9th father-son combination to play Test cricket for India

Stuart Binny, who made his Test debut today, against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, and Roger Binny have become the 9th father-son combination to play Test cricket for India. The 30-year-old also became the 281st player to represent India in the longer format and 22nd player from Karnataka to play for the country.

Roger, Stuart’s father, represented India in 27 Test matches and 72 ODIs during the time period 1979-1987 and, like his son, was a seam bowing all-rounder, too.

The most famous father-son combinations from India include the Sr., and Jr., Nawab of Pataudi.

Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi Sr., whose son Mansoor – famously known as ‘Tiger Pataudi’ – is one of the best captains India have ever had, is the only cricketer to have played for both England and India.
