Sachin Tendulkar, on 24th February 2010, scored the first ever double century in the history of One Day International Cricket.

The venue was the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and the opposition was South Africa. He managed to reach the historic landmark off 147 balls in the final over the Indian innings.

In August 2009, Zimbabwean Charles Coventry equalled Saeed Anwar’s 194 by scoring 194* vs Bangladesh.

Apart from becoming the first to score a double century in ODIs, below is the list of some more records achieved by Tendulkar in the innings:

# Sachin Tendulkar overcame the record of scoring most number of fours (25) in an ODI inning. Previous record was of 22 fours by Saeed Anwar in his 194 vs India in 1997.

# Sachin Tendulkar scored his 5th 150+ score in ODIs to become the player with most number of 150+ score in ODIs which was previously equalled with Sanath Jayasuriya (4).

# Sachin Tendulkar overcame Ricky Ponting’s 164 as the highest individual score against South Africa in ODIs.

After Sachin Tendulkar’s double century, there have been 2 more double centuries in ODIs both by Indians – Sehwag 219 vs WI, 2011 and Rohit Sharma 209 vs Aus, 2013.
