Sachin Tendulkar may extend his first class career beyond the 2nd Test in Wankhede against West Indies

Sachin Tendulkar is all set to play his last two Test matches against West Indies next month and in a side plot, he will be featuring in a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai against Haryana from October 27-30 in Lahli.

Preparations are going on in full scale for what is touted to be the last domestic game for the batting maestro, but is it possible that Sachin Tendulkar may continue playing for the Mumbai side even after his international retirement?

On Thursday, Mumbai coach Sulakshan Kulkarni questioned the reports of this being Sachin’s last domestic match.

“Who said it’s his last Ranji Trophy game, we don’t know. He is playing that game (in Haryana),” Kulkarni said after the practice session at the Wankhede Stadium.

Deccan Chronicle also quoted an MCA official saying that Tendulkar is yet to take a call on his future in Ranji Trophy.

“We asked him if he would play for Mumbai after his final Test but there was no confirmation or denial. It is likely that he will play and help us defend our title. With Ajit Agarkar retiring too, the dressing room will be devoid of some senior players and Tendulkar’s presence would provide a big boost,” the official said.

In his letter to the BCCI few weeks ago, Sachin had written, “It’s been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test Match on home soil, as I call it a day.”

Though decided on his international career, with no word from the Master Blaster over his domestic future and Mumbai needing a senior player in their squad, November 18 may not be the last day to witness Sachin Tendulkar on the field for the fans.
