Sachin Tendulkar and Steve Waugh set to be inducted into the Bradman Hall of Fame

Sachin Tendulkar might have retired from the game of cricket a year ago, but awards and recognitions haven’t stopped coming his way as he is now set to be inducted as a Bradman Honouree at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) along with former Australian captain Steve Waugh.

Sachin will be 3rd Indian cricketer and 4th non-Australian after Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Sir Richard Hadlee to join the list.

The Bradman Foundation has stated that both Tendulkar and Waugh will be honoured at the SCG at a gala dinner on October 29.

"Cricketing greats Sachin Tendulkar AM and Steve Waugh AO will be honoured at The Bradman Foundation's Gala Dinner on October 29 at the Sydney Cricket Ground," the Foundation announced on its website earlier today.

"Tendulkar and Waugh will be present for their induction as the 2014 Bradman Honourees, joining the likes of Alan Davidson AM MBE, Dennis Lillee AM MBE and Mark Taylor AO," it added.

Tendulkar returning to the SCG will undoubtedly bring back fond memories for the Mumbaikar as he averaged a staggering 157 and made 3 hundreds including a double hundred at the ground.

"There could be no more principled and deserving individuals in the game than Sachin and Steve," Bradman Foundation executive director Rina Hore said.

"Were Sir Donald to still be alive I'm sure he would unhesitatingly applaud their recognition at the ground where his ambition to play Test cricket was first kindled," he added.

Tendulkar, who had met Don Bradman on his 90th birthday in 1998, had just recently said that Bradman comparing his batting style with his own was the greatest compliment he had ever received. Bradman had also included Tendulkar in his all-time Test XI, the photograph of which Tendulkar has framed at his house in Mumbai.

"Coming back to the greatest compliment that I have received in my life was without any doubt was from Sir Don," Tendulkar had said.

"In 1994-95 he told his wife that my batting style resembles his batting style. It was the greatest compliment that I have received from him and the icing on the cake was when he picked me to be a part of his all-time Test playing eleven.

"That was a special moment for me in life. I have the photograph of the playing eleven framed at my place which I would treasure," he had added.
