Saeed Ajmal set to make long-awaited comeback, included in Pakistan A squad

Saeed Ajmal included in the Pakistan A squad

Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has been included in the Pakistan A squad for the remaining two ODIs against Kenya in Lahore. The 37-year-old is eligible to play against Kenya despite being banned from bowling in international cricket due to an illegal action as the concerned matches do not hold international status. He is also allowed to feature in domestic cricket anywhere in the world if he wishes to do so.

He was suspended by the ICC earlier this year after his elbow extension while bowling was found to be exceeding the 15-degree limit as permitted by cricket’s governing body.

Ajmal has been working with former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq since his suspension in order to correct his action. Recently, an unofficial test was conducted on Ajmal at the Loughborough University and the results obtained showed that his off-break and his faster balls were found to be alright. However, Ajmal still needs to work on getting his doosra within the 15-degree limit.

It is understood, however, that his main target is to make sure that his off-break is fully sorted and devoid of any doubt before the start of the 2015 World Cup in February.

The PCB had earlier asked the ICC for dates to conduct the test but later postponed it as they felt that more changes need to be made on his action before he can take the tests. He has been playing club cricket in Faisalabad since returning from his testing in England.
