Brisbane, May 14 (IANS) West Indies Twenty20 leg-spinner Samuel Badree says he is keen to make his mark in the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) after putting pen to paper for Brisbane Heat for the upcoming season.

The 34-year-old will come up against the likes of Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa's Jacques Kallis and England's Kevin Pietersen, but says he is ready for the challenge, reports CMC.

"Obviously, when you have those big name players it always brings out the best in you," the Trinidadian said.

"When you have marquee players like these, people come to look at the game and that sort of environment, you want to create a fun environment and the team. It's all about the team trying to have fun and doing your best at all times."

Badree has emerged in recent years as one of the finest bowlers in the shortest format of the game. He has taken 31 wickets from 22 matches at an economy rate of five an over.

His presence will strengthen the Heat's bowling attack, especially after their leading bowler from last season Dan Christian recently signed with Hobart Hurricanes.

The right-armer said variety, confidence and consistency would be crucial in this format.

"Variety is the key. Having that confidence in yourself and being able to back your ability, and at the same time having the correct mindset and being able to able accept the fact that at some point in time you may go for runs," he explained.

"But at other times you need to be consistent as much as possible. Just back your strengths."

Badree had also signed up to play in last year's Big Bash but was ruled out through injury.
