Sathuri Kamalakara, official scorer of BCCI passes away

Board of Control for Cricket in India’s official panel scorer, Sathuri Kamalakara died on Sunday due to illness.

In 1997, the 54-year-old appeared for a BCCI Panel Scorers’ Examination in Nagpur and became the first person from the Vishakapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) and Andhra Cricket Association to become a panel scorer for BCCI.

He was a former wicket-keeper batsman for the Vizag Greens Cricket Club. He joined South Eastern Railway later on. He took part in the VDCA and Inter-Divisional Railway Tournament in 1980s.

He is survived by his wife and a son, NDTV reported. He was also the official scorer for numerable ODI and Ranji Trophy matches along with some BCCI domestic tournaments.

VDCA president P Vishun Kumar Raju, secretary K Parthasaradhi and many other office members of the VDCA offered their heartfelt condolences on the occasion of the death of Kamalakara Rao.
