Sachin Tendulkar will play his last domestic match for Mumbai against Haryana on October 27

Sachin Tendulkar‘s decision to play his last Ranji Trophy game is turning out to be a nightmare decision for the organisers.

Mumbai‘s Ranji Trophy clash against Haryana at Lahli in Rohtak district, due to start on 27th October, is creating added problems for Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) members due to the presence of Sachin Tendulkar in the visiting side this time around.

The major issue facing the administrators is accommodation of Sachin Tendulkar, who apart from the champion cricketer, is also a member of Rajya Sabha.

“As things stand, Rohtak doesn’t have a three, four or five star hotel,” an official involved in the preparations of the match was quoted by the Times of India.

“What’s even more concerning is that none have more than 15 rooms, which is the least number of players and officials travelling with the Mumbai team. Right now we are planning to accommodate the team in the Rivoli Hotel, which we feel is the best in the area. It has a Suite Room that can be used by Tendulkar.

“But this hotel only has 12 rooms, so the team might be put up at two different places.

“There are two Haryana government resorts – Tilyar and Myna – being considered but these two also don’t have enough rooms. We also need to consider the security aspect as Tendulkar is also a MP. For this we have involved the local administration. The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police visited the ground today. They are accessing the security situation at the Rivoli and resorts. They will get back to us in next few days,” the source added.

According to the report, it may also be possible that Haryana Chief Minister Bhoopinder Singh Hooda may invite Sachin to stay at his residence in Rohtak.

The other problems being faced by HCA involve a non-availability of permanent structures which can accommodate cameras for this big fixture. Urgent work is on to somehow construct temporary structures in time for the match.
