Ace off-spinner Harbhajan singh lauded former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly for his contribution in guiding the Indian team to win overseas matches.

Harbhajan praised the 41-year-old for his numerous comebacks in the game.

“Dada has made a lot of comebacks. You can’t make a comeback if you don’t fight. Dada was a brilliant captain, there is no doubt about it. He taught us how to win outside India. The way he led the team was an example for everyone. It was a difficult time for India with all the match fixing. I admire him a lot. He is a great human being,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by NDTV.

He praised Ganguly’s appetite for not giving up. The ex-Indian skipper, despite being dropped from the team on numerous occasions, made several comebacks. During the later stages of his career, Ganguly was sidelined from the team after his spat with ex-Indian coach Greg Chappell, but returned to have a good spell in his later stages with the bat and also made his maiden double hundred against Pakistan. Harbhajan said he himself was working hard like Ganguly to make his way to the national team.

“Dada has made a lot of comebacks. You can’t make a comeback if you don’t fight. I need to make a comeback. I’m working hard, fighting hard. And I’m sure things will fall into place if not today then tomorrow for sure,” he said.

Harbhajan will lead Punjab in the quarter-final of Vijay Hazare against Railways today at Eden Gardens.
