Sourav Ganguly pulls off yet another administrative masterstroke to secure four sponsors for CAB

Ganguly has roped in Rs 6 crore in less than a year as CAB President

Cricket Association of Bengal President Sourav Ganguly has added to Bengal cricket’s existent sponsorship by the inclusion of five more sponsors. Earlier in 2015, the former Indian Captain had signed a Rs 1 crore deal with IDBI Federal Life Insurance, in an attempt to monetise the structure.

The 43-year old reiterated that the sponsorship money will be used to supports first class cricketers, and develop grass-root level infrastructure. During a media interaction, Ganguly said, “It is easier to support the established players such as Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. The real challenge is to support youngsters, keeping in mind what they might do in the future.

Less than eight months into his administrative career, Ganguly has helped Bengal earn yet another cumulative Rs 5 crore sponsorship. This time around Reliance LYF, Bandhan Bank, Parampara and BMA Stainless have also jumped on board Bengal’s cricketing revolution.

Ganguly added,”It’s very heartening to see companies investing in Ranji cricket, and what they ask for is visibility. Hence, we will be pumping most of this money into junior cricket.” An immediate worry in Eden Gardens is a partially faulty electronic scoreboard, which will also be fixed soon.

He added, “During the World Cup we didn’t get time, and then the IPL came in where there were games consistently. So this is something that is on the agenda.” The new sponsors will not be title sponsors, but will be given substantial visibility.

In less than a year, Ganguly has raised Rs 6 crores for Bengal cricket, which is an unheard sum prior to his arrival.
