Faf du Plessis gets treatment from South African team physiotherapist

South African batsman Faf du Plessis probably has a career in cricketing equipment manufacturing in store once he decides to retire from the game of cricket. I say this because du Plessis, as a result of numerous blows to his groin in recent times, has invented his own triple strength protector, named The Beast.

The 30-year old revealed the reason for coming up with his ingenious equipment in an amusing tour diary, which has been released on the official website of the South African cricket team. South Africa are currently on a tour of Zimbabwe for an ODI tri-series involving Zimbabwe, Australia and themselves.

“For those who don't know I’m one of the guys who get hit in the nuts probably the most in the world,” Du Plessis said.

“For those who do know, it’s a very, very painful thing to go through.”

Du Plessis said that he moved to a three box model as a two box variant, which he earlier used to use, wasn’t requisite for the purpose that it was intended for.

It’s helped me a lot,” du Plessis said. “The first 56,000 times I got hit with two boxes it was too painful. Three now is perfect for me — it works. I’ve probably been hit in the nuts five times since I built The Beast and I’m pain free.”
