Stats: Ashwin tops list of players with more Man of the Series than Man of the Match

Ashwin picked up his fifth Man of the Series award following India-SA series

In cricket, usually Man of the Match award is considered much easier to win than Man of the Series Award, for the number of MOM is always more than the MOS awards. Winning an MOS Award and not MOM shows that a person has consistently performed in the whole series – always putting in his due share and leading his team to victory in the series.

He does not perform exceptionally well in one game and ordinarily in others of the series. He performs exceptionally well in almost every game. In the long and illustrious history of Tests, there are a few players to have won more MOS Awards than MOM Awards.

Ravichandran Ashwin is one of those players. He got his 5th MOM Award in the Freedom Trophy 2015/16 while he has 4 MOM Awards to his name.

INDIAN PLAYERS WITH MOST MAN OF THE SERIES

Ravichandran Ashwin got his 5th MOS Award in Test Career- which are joint most for any Indian player. Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar has also got 5 each. Interesting to note is the fact that Ashwin has played only 32 Tests, while all other two have played matches in excess of 100. Quite of achievement? Don’t you think!
