Stats: Faf du Plessis - first cricketer to 100 international innings without a duck from debut

South African batsman Faf du Plessis has become the only player in the history of cricket to have played 100 consecutive international innings without getting dismissed for a duck from debut. He has represented the African nation in 52 One Day Internationals, 20 Twenty20 internationals, 17 Tests (28 innings) so far.

The 30-year-old is also only the 8th batsman ever to play 100 or more consecutive international innings without getting out for a duck. In the sixth and final league match of the ongoing ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe, batting first, South Africa, propelled by Du Plessis’ 140-ball 121, made 271/6 in 50 overs. It was the right-hander’s third century in the series.

Zimbabwe need to chase the target down in 25.1 overs to qualify for the finals, which is to be played against Australia at Harare on September 6. In reply, at the time of writing this article, the hosts were 16/0 in 4.1 overs.
