Stats: Interesting facts and numbers from Day 1 of the 3rd Ashes Test

Australia were bowled out for 136 in the first innings

The third Test of the Investec Ashes series between hosts England and Australia started today at Edgbaston. England won the first Test comfortably at Cardiff before Australia bounced back by winning the Lords Test by mammoth 405 runs.

Well, it was England’s turn to shine in the 3rd Test and they have started it well. Michael Clarke won the toss and surprisingly chose to bat on the green surface at Edgbaston. It was the good toss to lose for Alastair Cook’s side as they restricted the Aussies for just 136 runs.

James Anderson was the hero with the bowl for England by adding 6 wickets to his tally. Steven Finn troubled the Australian batsman early on with his inswinging deliveries.

England started their 1st innings poorly as they lost Adam Lyth early to Josh Hazlewood. England managed to put 133 runs on the board with the loss of 3 wickets by the end of day 1 of the 3rd test.
