Stats: Most consecutive Twenty20 innings without duck

Chris Gayle

West Indies big hitter Chris Gayle broke the world record for the most number of Twenty20 innings played without scoring a duck when he got off the mark, while representing Jamaica Tallawahs, in the Caribbean Premier League T20 match against Guyana Amazon Warriors yesterday. The 34-year-old has now played 90 innings without being dismissed for a duck, beating former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik’s record, who had a 89-match streak before being out for a nought.

Although Gayle was dismissed cheaply for a 23-ball 22 while chasing a moderate 138-run target, Tallawahs managed to pull off a stunning win, courtesy Andre Russell’s 24-ball 58. Needing 10 off the last 2 balls, Russell smashed a boundary and a six off Neesham to bring back the home team from dead.

While the run of the other 3 in the list have been stopped, Indian captain MS Dhoni still has a 80-match streak going on. So, the record isn’t safe.
