Stats: 10 most successful ODI captains of all time

Australia’s Ricky Ponting leads the chart of most successful One-Day International (ODI) captains, followed by South African Hansie Cronje and his compatriot Steve Waugh. The ranks were given on the basis of players leading his team in minimum 100 matches as a captain.

Interestingly, Ponting is also the player who has captained a side for the most number of ODI matches (230) ever, which is another record. India’s most successful captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni remains the only player in the list who is yet to retire and is still leading his team.
