Left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan holds the record for having taken the most wickets for India in Twenty20 internationals. We will take a look at the top 5 in this list and this is going to surprise one and all.

1. Irfan Pathan (28 wickets)

Out of favour pacer Irfan Pathan is on top of the wicket takers list for India in the T20 format. Pathan’s best bowling figures came in the most important T20 match he has ever played for India, that is the 2007 final in Johannesburg. He bowled in the middle overs and fetched three crucial wickets to help India win.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin (25 wickets)

Undoubtedly India’s best bowler right now in this format. He has picked up 25 wickets in 25 matches which means a wicket apiece. With a decent economy of 7.23 he also has a four wicket haul to his name. He has been Dhoni’s go to man in this format during the difficult phases in the match.

3. Yuvraj Singh (23 wickets)

This is certainly a surprise. He didn’t bowl much in the world T20 in Bangladesh, but still remains within the top 5. Yuvraj has been India’s best player in the format for many years now and has provided crucial breakthroughs with the ball. He has picked up 23 wickets so far and will be looking to add more in the future.

4. Harbhajan Singh (22 wickets)

No longer part of the Indian set up, Bhajji still finds himself at number 4. It has to do with India not playing too many T20 internationals probably. He has picked up 22 wickets so far at an economy of 6.36 which is the best among the top 5. His best performance came against England during the 2012 world cup in Sri Lanka.

5. Ashok Dinda (17 wickets)

Surely the biggest surprise of them all. Ashok Dinda in at number 5. What’s more surprising is the fact that his bowling average of 14 is the best amongst the top 5. But as always, the economy is on the higher side above 8.
