Following their impressive performance against India in the World T20 opener, New Zealand continued their excellent form in their second match of the tournament against their Trans-Tasman rivals Australia to defeat them by eight runs at Dharamsala.
After winning the toss, Kane Williamson chose to bat on a pitch that was dry and seemed like a decent batting track. Martin Guptill gave the Kiwis a good start as, along with Williamson, they scored 58 runs in the powerplay. Australia fought back and restricted their opponents to just 142 runs.
In reply, Australia got off to a similar and good start in the first five overs, with Usman Khawaja taking the attack to the Kiwi bowlers. However, like in the last match, Kiwi spinners pegged back the batsmen and troubled the Aussies to help script their downfall.
