Stats: Shoaib Malik becomes 7th player to score 6000 runs and take 150 wickets in ODIs

Shoaib Malik has found himself in an elite ODI all-rounders list

Pakistan’s all-rounder Shoaib Malik, playing in his 230th match, became the 7th player to reach the landmark of scoring 6000 runs and taking 150 wickets in ODIs after capturing the wicket of England captain Eoin Morgan in the 3rd ODI between England and Pakistan at Sharjah.

Malik had a good farewell Test series with the ball and a decent series with the bat, where he scored 292 runs at an average of 48.67 and took 11 wickets in the 3 test match series.

He came into the four-match ODI series against England 10 runs and 3 wickets short of reaching the milestone of having 6000 runs and 150 wickets in ODIs. Although he has not made the kind of impact he had in the Test series, he eventually achieved the landmark in the 3rd ODI.

In this ODI series, he has scored 55 runs and taken 3 wickets in 3 matches. After Younis Khan’s retirement, he is the senior member in the team alongside Mohammad Hafeez. He also became the second Pakistani player to reach this landmark of having 6000 runs and 150 wickets in ODIs after ‘Boom Boom’ Shahid Afridi.

In this list, barring these two Pakistani players, there are some big names including Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya Jacques Kallis, Chris Gayle and Steve Waugh. From all of these seven players, two are currently playing – Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik – while others have taken retirement from ODI cricket.

Here is a list that shows all of these seven players’ runs and wickets in ODIs till this day.
