Stats: Tharanga becomes 9th Sri Lankan to cross 5,000 ODI runs

Tharanga crossed 5,000 runs in ODI’s.

Upul Tharanga became the 9th Sri Lankan player to cross the 5,000 run margin in one day international cricket with his 174*against India at Kingston, Jamaica in the on-going Tri Nation Series.

This knock could very well cement his place in the team after getting dropped for Kushal Perera in the recently-concluded Champions trophy.

The bigger challenge for him would be to do well in more lively pitches with the World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand, where he only averages 26.95 in 23 innings at a strike rate of 65.23.
