The Sydney Sixers team of the KFC Big Bash has a noble vision. The ‘six smashing’ aggression of the club is matched with the ‘hard hitting generosity’ of the Australians as a campaign called ‘Batting for Change’ is going on at the tournament. For every six that the Sydney team hits in a match, some amount previously pledged by the team and the players goes into the account of the charitable trust.

Batting for Change, a registered charity in Australia, have pledged to accumulate a sum of $120,000 and donate the amount to LBW Trust. The amount would be used to educate 600 disadvantaged women in rural India and Sri Lanka.

Founded by Ryan Carters in 2013 with the vision of bringing cricket lovers together in support of a more level playing field in global education, Batting for Change has been a part of the Big Bash league and has contributed amounts for the last few years to the LBW trust. The organization had raised $30,000 and $108,000 in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

This campaign will raise money throughout the entire length of the tournament. With eight days remaining for the tournament to end, Batting for Change have already raised $92,495.

The Sydney Sixers have pledged to pay $2,202 for every six that they hit. In all the matches that they have played so far, the Sydney Sixers have hit 42 sixes in total.

The list of contributors among the players is led by Brad Haddin among the trump players. With nine sixes, the Australian wicket keeper batsman has taken his net contribution to $2,197, having pledged $244 for every six he hits.

Michel Lumb has hit the highest number of sixes for the Sydney Smashers. He is closely followed by Brad Haddin and Nic Maddinson with nine sixes each.

Any spectator can contribute to this noble mission as well. All that they need to do is to follow this link. The donations, the charitable foundation feels, are greatly appreciated as every dollar counts. The donors, Batting for Change have declared, would be e-mailed a tax-deductible receipt immediately after completing the payment.
